CU Buffs lose lone 2022 commitment – BuffZone

For the second time this week, the Colorado football team has lost a verbal commitment.

On Wednesday, Palmer Ridge High School star Anthony Costanzo, CU’s first and only commit of the 2022 class, announced on Twitter that he is reopening his recruitment.

“Due to the situation we are currently in this has placed restrictions on my ability to attend the campus and for me to meet the new coaches and staff,” Costanzo wrote on Twitter. “I would like to rebuild a new relationship with the new coaches and staff there. So I’ve decided to Re open my recruitment and I would like to keep my options open and see what’s best for me and my future.”

Costanzo’s announcement came just two days after his Palmer Ridge teammate and close friend, Kaden Dudley, reopened his recruitment. Dudley was the first player to commit to CU for the 2021 class.

Both players committed to CU under previous head coach Mel Tucker, but they’ve been unable to get to know new head coach Karl Dorrell.

A 6-foot-2 receiver/defensive back, Costanzo caught 16 passes for 433 yards and eight touchdowns last season for Palmer Ridge, while adding three interceptions on defense.
