DENVER (KKTV) – The 14-year-old suspect was arrested on Tuesday evening in Wyoming after a homicide in Denver over a week earlier.
Suspect Steven “Esco” Marquez was accused of shooting Todd Kidd who tried breaking up a disturbance at 29th Street and Larimer Street on July 10 around 6:40 p.m. Kidd died from his injuries two days later.
According to the Denver Police Department’s investigation, Kidd was shot by Marquez after attempting to intervene in a disturbance.
“Investigators have obtained a first-degree murder warrant for Marquez, who goes by Esco,” police said Tuesday. “… Marquez is considered armed and dangerous and should not be contacted by citizens.”
The Denver Police Department teamed up with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the Casper Police Department to locate the suspect.
After extensive investigative efforts, the Denver Police Fugitive Unite learned that Marquez was hiding out in Casper, Wyoming.
According to police, Marquez is being held for investigation of first-degree murder and the final determination of his charges will be made by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
