Hailing from New York City’s 24th District, Councilmember Jim Gennaro was inspired to run for office because he is passionate about environmental public policy. His favorite thing about being a city councilmember is making a difference in the lives of his community members–and sometimes people living outside his district, as well.
The biggest lesson that Gennaro has learned during his time in office is the importance of transparency and honesty. The biggest challenge he has faced so far has been raising the age for tobacco purchases to 21.
Three words that Gennaro would say capture his district are “good eats here.” His first job was at an ice cream shop.
