DENVER – The [17/17] University of Denver men’s lacrosse program takes on [RV/-] Michigan on Saturday at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Opening faceoff on Midco Sports Plus and 104.3 The Fan HD3 is set for 1 p.m. MT.
SERIES HISTORY:
Denver has won all three of the previous meetings between the two programs, including a 16-11 win over the Wolverines in the 2024 NCAA First Round at PBLS. The two teams spent one year together in the ECAC before Denver departed for the BIG EAST Conference. FULL HISTORY

Marek Tzagournis had a second-half natural hat trick to give Denver a 9-7 lead, but after holding [4/5] Cornell scoreless for nearly 28 minutes, the defending national champs ended the game on a 6-0 run to take a 13-9 win over Denver on Saturday at Peter Barton. FULL RECAP

Denver is 4-1 on Feb. 28 in its Division I history.
In 2009, Charley Dickenson had six assists in Denver’s win over Sacred Heart, which at the time was the single-game program record.

2025: Denver’s and its opponents scored 17 goals off resets apiece last season.
2026: Denver is 1-for-6 in reset chances this year, while its opponents are 0-for-15
Utah was 0-for-8 in reset chances in DU’s one-goal win in February while the Pioneers converted on their only reset opportunity.
UNFRIENDLY PIPES
Denver has hit some unlucky pipes by a margin of 194-133 in the last eight seasons.
The luck has begun to turn in 2026 with opponents hitting 18 posts compared to Denver’s four.
DENVER’S MAN-UP D IN LAST THREE SEASONS
In 35 games since the start of the 2024 season, Denver has allowed just 16 man-up goals on opponents 78 opportunities for a man-down kill-percentage of 79.5%.
The total is tied for the fewest man-down goals in the country since the start of 2024 (Maryland).
Denver’s penalty kill rate is also the highest in the country over that span (79.5).
In 2025 alone, Denver ranked 11th in man-up kill percentage at 75.0%.
In Denver’s 7-3 win over Georgetown on April 12, 2025 the Pios man-down unit killed off four of four penalties, and forced two shot clock violations while a man down.
DEFENDING THE LACROSSE CAPITAL OF THE WEST
130-31 since Peter Barton was built in 2005
65 sellouts, including five in 2014, 2015 and 2018, eight in 2016 and 10 in 2017.
Denver has finished in the top-10 in the country in average attendance in each of the last 10 seasons (excluding 2021 due to COVID-19).
The Pios have finished in the top-5 three times, fourth in the shortened 2020 season, fifth in the 2015 National Championship season and fifth in the 2023 campaign.
Denver has had at least one sellout in every season since 2011 (15 straight).
Denver vs. Yale on March 10, 2024, drew 3,037, the second-biggest crowd in the history of PBLS. Denver vs. Cornell on February 24, 2024 drew 3,025, now the third-biggest crowd.
Denver and Michigan in the 2024 NCAA First Round drew 2,965, the fifth largest crowd in the stadium’s history, and the stadium’s largest for an NCAA Tournament game.

Former Pioneer Mark Matthews netted a game-winner for Toronto as part of a six-point night as the Rock snapped Colorado’s extended winning streak last weekend. Jack Hannah had six assists in the game for the Mammoth.
Wes Berg had a hat trick to help San Diego past Halifax, 9-8.
