SAN ANTONIO — A local park on the South Side will be getting some major improvements thanks to a $1.5 million state grant.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission announced more than $21.2 million in local park grants a new record, on Friday. The grants are intended to help create and enhance outdoor recreational opportunities.
San Antonio’s Pearsall Park located on Old Pearsall Road will be getting a bike track, lighting, shade structures and construction of a track perimeter, as part of the grant.
Spanning 505 acres, Pearsall Park offers a community space for fitness, recreation, and outdoor activities. The park features disc golf, fitness stations, trails, splash pads, dog parks, and the city’s largest skate park.
