OXFORD, Miss. – No. 11 Memphis Rifle battled No. 5 Ole Miss Saturday afternoon but came up short in an NCAA Qualifier, falling 4738 to 4703 at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford, Mississippi.
The Rebels posted a 2355 in smallbore and a 2383 in air rifle to finish with 319 centers. Memphis totaled 2336 in smallbore and 2367 in air rifle, recording 292 centers.
Despite several strong individual team efforts this season, the result was not enough to secure a berth in next month’s NCAA Championships.
Junior Katrina Demerle turned in Memphis’ top aggregate score of the day, finishing fourth overall with an 1182 (587 smallbore, 595 air rifle) and 80 centers.
Demerle’s air rifle mark of 595 tied for fourth individually, while her 587 in smallbore ranked sixth in the field.
Memphis also placed Emmet Bodrogi inside the top five in smallbore with a 595. He closed with a strong after posting a 569 in smallbore to finish with an aggregate 1164 (65 centers).
Gabriela Zych added a 592 in air rifle and 585 in smallbore for a 1177 aggregate (77 centers), placing sixth overall.
Ole Miss placed three shooters atop the aggregate standings, led by Audrey Gogniat’s match-best 1187 (589 smallbore, 598 air rifle).
Memphis will close out its 2025-26 campaign at the GARC Championships, set for Feb. 28-March 1, as the Tigers look to finish the season on a strong note.
