PHOENIX — Construction began Tuesday on a grocery-anchored shopping center in Avondale, the city announced.
The Marketplace at Tres Rios will be 28 acres and feature a Fry’s Marketplace, three multi-tenant shop buildings as well as seven retail pads.
While other tenants have yet to be announced, the shopping center is anticipated to bring new shopping, dining and service options to residents.
The shopping center is located just north of Alamar, a 1,150-acre master planned community that is expected to provide more than 4,000 homes at full buildout. So far, the community has opened two of its neighborhoods, which combined offered 229 homesites.
It is currently not known when construction on the shopping center is slated to be finished.
“We’re excited to see this project take shape and the opportunities it will bring to residents and businesses alike,” the city said in an announcement.
