West Virginia is set to host the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in program history, the first since 1992 and the first in the modern era of the event.

West Virginia opens the first round against No. 13-seeded Miami of Ohio in the Morgantown Region of this year’s 68-team bracket, at Hope Coliseum in Morgantown. The Mountaineers will take on the RedHawks on Saturday, March 21.

The other teams featured in WVU’s portion of the first and second-round bracket include No. 5 Kentucky and No.12 James Madison.

Second-round games will be played on Monday, March 23.

The Mountaineers will take on the RedHawks at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, while Kentucky and James Madison will play at 2:30 p.m in the first game of the session. Both contests will be broadcast on ESPNU.

WVU will be making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season and for the 17th time in program history.

WVU is fresh off capturing the program’s second Big 12 Conference Tournament championship. The 62-53 win over TCU gave the Mountaineers their first tournament title since 2017 and earned the team the Big 12 Conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The Mountaineers 27 wins this season are the third most in program history, sitting behind a 30-win season in 2014 and a 29-win season in 2014. During the Mark Kellogg era, the Mountaineers have won 77 contests, tied for the second most over a three-season span. WVU also won 77 games from 2010-12 and won a program-best 78 games from 2014-16. At home over the last three seasons, the Mountaineers are 44-5.
