Houston-based KBR Inc. is the latest company to open a Phoenix lab for workers in semiconductor, aerospace and defense manufacturing jobs.
KBR’s Arizona Metrology Engineering Center, at 2145 S. 7th Street in Phoenix, will focus on metrology, which is the little-known science of measurement.
It involves advanced measurement, precision calibration and other engineering skills that KBR employs while serving commercial and government clients that are working on space technology, semiconductor and advanced research projects across the world.
Beyond its newest Arizona facility, KBR (NYSE: KBR) already has 150 employees in the Valley. KBR is one of Houston’s largest publicly traded companies, and it has 36,000 employees globally with customers in over 85 countries.
“KBR’s investment reflects the company’s long-standing presence and economic impact in the Phoenix area,” the company said in a statement.
