Last year, Colorado State Patrol troopers investigated 215 crashes of all types on I-25 in Arapahoe and Douglas Counties.

DENVER — Five Colorado law enforcement agencies will conduct a coordinated traffic enforcement operation on Wednesday.

The Colorado State Patrol said the operation will enforce traffic laws on Interstate 25 in south Denver.

This operation will focus on lane violations and unsafe speeds, according to Colorado State Patrol.

The Colorado State Patrol, Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Greenwood Village Police Department, and Lone Tree Police Department will participate in the operation.

Wednesday’s operation will focus on unsafe passing, distracted driving, and aggressive driving such as excessive speed, and tailgating.

Colorado State Patrol said last year, its troopers responded to 215 crashes of all types, including property, injury, and fatal, on I-25 in Arapahoe and Douglas Counties. The agency said the top factors for these crashes were:

  1. Following too closely (80)
  2. Inattentive to driving (41)
  3. Lane violations (31)
  4. Speeding (29)

What to do when passing emergency vehicle or passenger vehicles with emergency hazards on

  • Move over at least one lane from that vehicle
  • If they cannot safely move over, then they must slow down to a safe speed
