In recent seasons, Miami has relied on transfer quarterbacks like Carson Beck to bring the Hurricanes back as a national title contender.
Past next season though, it appears that the Hurricanes will be leaning on one of the top 2027 quarterbacks for the future.
Arlington Heights (IL) Montini Catholic five-star quarterback Israel Abrams announced his commitment to Miami Friday afternoon on The Pat McAfee Show.
Abrams chose the Hurricanes over Auburn, Florida State, Kentucky and Purdue.
According to 247Sports, Abrams ranks as the No. 14 overall prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 2 quarterback and No. 1 player out of Illinois.
In 2025 Abrams was named the MaxPreps Illinois Player of the Year leading Montini Catholic to a 14-0 record and the Class 4A state title.
On the season he completed 69% of his passes for 4,072 yards and 40 touchdowns while also rushing for 224 yards and 10 more touchdowns.
Hurricanes land pass-catching duo of the future
Abrams’ pledge to Miami was massive, as they already have a commitment from one of the cycle’s top wide receivers.
Miami Carol City five-star receiver Nick Lennear committed to the Hurricanes on March 5.
The duo headline a class that consists of eight current commitments and ranks as the seventh best in the cycle so far.
Other standouts include four-star safety Jaylyn Jones, four-star edge Demarcus Deroche and four-star wide receiver Ah’Mari Stevens.
