On Friday night, the Atlanta Hawks beat the Brooklyn Nets (at Barclays Center) by a score of 141-107.

Caleb Houstan finished the win with two points, one rebound and one assist while shooting 1/1 from the field in four minutes of playing time.

On Saturday, the Hawks announced that they had released Houstan.

The Hawks wrote: “We have requested waivers on Caleb Houstan”

Houston had been averaging 2.3 points per contest while shooting 53.8% from the field and 52.4% from three-point range in 18 games.

Houstan’s NBA Career

Houstan was the 32nd pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Michigan.

He has also spent time with the Orlando Magic over part of four NBA seasons.

His career averages are 3.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 39.7% from the field and 37.8% from three-point range in 186 games.

Following the release of Houstan, news came out that the Hawks are now signing another player.

ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote: “The Atlanta Hawks are signing veteran center Tony Bradley to a deal for the remainder of the season, adding frontcourt depth in wake of an injury to Jock Landale, sources tell ESPN. Atlanta has had a hot second half, surging to No. 5 in the Eastern Conference.”

Hawks Right Now

The Hawks are the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 45-33 record in 78 games.

They are in the middle of a four-game winning streak (and have won eight out their last ten).

At home, the Hawks have gone 23-16 in 39 games at State Farm Arena.

Following the Knicks, they will play their next game on Wednesday night when they visit James Harden and the Cleveland Cavaliers in Ohio.

The Hawks have missed the NBA playoffs in each of the previous two seasons.

They had reached the Eastern Conference finals in 2021 when Trae Young, John Collins and Kevin Huerter were still on the roster.
