Cox Media Group has named Jay Shannon Operations Manager for its San Antonio radio cluster, effective May 4, as the company continues to invest in programming leadership across its key markets. He succeeds Rob Roberts, who retired in March.
In the role, Shannon will oversee strategy and day-to-day operations for a portfolio that includes rock “99.5 Kiss” KISS-FM, news/talk “Business 860” KONO-AM, country “Y 100” KCYY-FM, classic hits “106.7 The Eagle” KTKX-FM, hot AC “Hits 105.3” KSMG-FM and classic country “Country Legends 680 AM/104.9 FM” KKYX-AM/K285EU.
Shannon arrives with more than 30 years of programming and leadership experience, having built a reputation for developing talent, strengthening brands, and leading teams in competitive markets. He joins CMG from iHeartMedia, where he most recently served as Program Director of hot AC KDMX (102.9) and AC KDGE (102.1) in Dallas. He previously served as Senior Vice President of iHeartMedia Austin, and PD for its stations in San Antonio, Austin, and Lubbock. He exited the company in January 2025.
“With more than three decades in radio, Jay brings a combination of experience, leadership, and respect across the industry,” said Mark Shecterle, VP and Market Manager for CMG San Antonio. “I am excited to have Jay join CMG San Antonio and work alongside our talented team to help lead our strong group of radio stations.”
Throughout his career, Shannon has overseen programming, branding, and talent development across multiple formats, including CHR, hot AC, alternative, urban, and AC—experience that aligns with CMG’s multi-format strategy in the market.
“I’m beyond ecstatic to be joining the CMG San Antonio cluster,” Shannon said. “To be a part of one of the strongest radio groups in the country – with top-performing heritage formats – is truly a gift that’s not taken lightly. I’m thankful for this amazing opportunity.”
