DENVER — A shooting involving at least one Denver Police officer sent a person to the hospital early Saturday morning.
The shooting occurred just before 2 a.m. at an apartment complex located at 4363 S. Quebec St. The apartments are near East Quincy Avenue and South Quebec Street.
Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said in a video statement provided by Denver Police that officers were called to the apartments for an “armed confrontation” in the parking lot. Thomas said the confrontation was a possible carjacking. Officers were given a description of the person involved and found them a short time later, Thomas said.
Officers approached the person and gave them commands, Thomas said. The person then fired one shot at officers. An officer returned fire, striking the person. Thomas said officers provided medical care until an ambulance came and rushed the person shot to the hospital. Thomas said the person that was shot was in critical condition.
No officers were injured.
