ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the third-straight year, the No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis women’s tennis team claimed the NCAA Regional title and advances to the Elite 8, beginning Monday, May 18 in Chattanooga, Tenn. at the Champions Tennis Club. In deja vu from a season ago, the Bears defeated No. 13 Kenyon 4-0 on Saturday to earn the bid to the championship site.
 
Doubles
First-year Lily Brecknock and sophomore Sam Slowik won the first doubles match, beating Maggie Shope and Claire Hudson 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
 
Kenyon then won No. 1 doubles as No. 14 Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouiaime beat No. 1 junior Eleanor Archer and sophomore Caitlin Bui 6-4.
 
No. 9 senior Eliana Hanna and sophomore Ally Lin clinched the doubles point for the Bears, beating Shadia Amado Aguad and Kiara Komlodi 7-6 (7-2) at No. 2 doubles.
 
Singles
Senior Nina Moravek earned the first singles point, defeating Elizabeth Ackermann 6-0, 6-0 an o. 6 singles.
 
No. 21 Bui won the second singles point, topping Nouaime 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
 
No. 50 Lin clinched the match for the Bears, beating Amado Aguad 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
 
No. 5 Hanna won the first set 6-0 at No. 1 singles and fell 6-0 in the second set. She was leading No. 30 Lazaridou 3-0 in the third set when the match was clinched.
 
No. 17 Archer came back from a 4-0 deficit to win the first set 7-5 over Komlodi at No. 2 singles. She was trailing 3-2 in the second set at the clinch.
 
Senior Amber Edmonds lost to the first set to Hudson 6-2 at No. 5 singles and was trailing 2-1 at the conclusion of the match.
 
The Bears will play the winner of Johns Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon/CWRU in the Elite 8. The deciding match will be played tomorrow at 10 a.m.
