On Saturday night, the New York Yankees played the Milwaukee Brewers in Wisconsin for the second game of their series.

The Yankees had a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning.

However, they lost the game by a score of 4-3 (in ten innings).

Adam McCalvy of MLB.com wrote: “The Brewers have their first walk-off win of 2026, 4-3 over the Yankees. William Contreras hit a winning sac fly after some help from Yanks reliever Tim Hill.”

While the Yankees are one of the elite teams in the MLB, they could use more bullpen depth.

One player who could be a low-risk addition to the team is Andrew Chafin.

He is coming off a season where he went 1-1 with a 2.41 ERA in 42 games for the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Angels.

The 35-year-old recently became a free agent.

Jon Heyman of The New York Post wrote (on May 4): “Veteran lefty reliever Andrew Chafin opted out of his Reds deal and is a free agent”

Chafin also had a strong start to the Triple-A season with an 0.96 ERA in ten games for the Louisville Bats.

There is no question he could be a good addition to the Yankees’ bullpen.

Chafin was picked in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft.

He spent the first six and a half seasons of his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks (and later had another stint with the franchise).

In addition to the Diamondbacks, Angels and Nationals, Chafin has also pitched for the Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, Athletics, Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers.

Over 643 games (12 seasons), Chafin has gone 22-28 with a 3.35 ERA.

The Yankees are 26-14 in 40 games, which now has them as the second-place team in the American League East (behind the Tampa Bay Rays).

They are 12-8 in 20 games on the road.

On Sunday, the Yankees will look to avoid getting swept by the Brewers.
