Gina Carano could get her wish for a striking battle against boxing world champion Amanda Serrano.
Talk of the former Strikeforce fighter competing again has largely centered around the possibility of her facing Holly Holm under the MVP MMA banner.
That matchup arose as an option following Carano’s 17-second loss to Ronda Rousey. While ‘Rowdy’ retired, the ex-Disney star did not scratch her itch to fight during the short-lived comeback bout.
As it turns out, Holm is not the only woman willing to give Carano the stand-up battle she is after.

Chael Sonnen has been among those calling Holm the only option if Carano fights again after the MVP MMA main event against Rousey on Netflix.
‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ publicly accepted the fight ahead of her return to the boxing ring on Saturday, which saw Holm lose a controversial rematch against Stephanie Han for the WBA female lightweight title.
Holm could now turn her attention to an MMA return to fight Carano, but she might have some competition from Amanda Serrano.
During a recent interview with TMZ, the unified featherweight world champion hinted at another venture into the cage to face ‘Conviction’.
“100 percent. I told (MVP co-founder Jake Paul), ‘Listen, put me in coach, I’m ready to go in,’” Serrano said.
“It was a great show, live on Netflix, first time MVP’s done an MMA card, and it turned out beautiful. And if they decide to do it again, maybe before I’m completely done with fighting in general, I would love to go get in that cage.
“Listen, just hear the sound of it: ‘Serrano vs Carano. Serrano, Carano!’
“It would be an honor to go in there with such a great fighter,” she continued. “She’s a striker as well. She comes from a kickboxing background. So you never know.”

Serrano has some experience in MMA, having gone undefeated across three fights in the sport so far.
The Puerto Rican legend fought twice in Combate Global eight years ago, first drawing against Corina Herrera in her debut. Serrano then submitted Erendira Ordonez with a rear-naked choke to record her first MMA win.
She returned to the cage in 2021 under the iKON Fighting Federation banner, recording another submission, this time using a guillotine choke to finish Valentina Garcia.
Both Serrano and Holm are signed to Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, meaning there would be no issue making a clash with Carano if the women’s MMA pioneer does opt to fight again.
