Trade rumors surrounding Chet Holmgren are bound to occur following the former first-round pick’s no-show in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals.

While Holmgren wasn’t great the entire series, his disappointing play in the final and most important contest of the third-round playoff matchup will receive the most attention.
Holmgren recorded only four points on two field goal attempts and grabbed four measly rebounds in the Thunder’s crushing 111-103 loss to the NBA Finals-bound San Antonio Spurs. While likely not a popular trade idea, FS1’s Nick Wright thinks the Thunder could swap Holmgren for a former Los Angeles Lakers superstar and NBA champion in an offseason blockbuster deal.
“Chet being a part of a larger package for Giannis (Antetokounmpo) is going to be a big topic,” Wright wrote on X/Twitter Sunday. “But I wonder if Chet for AD (Anthony Davis) (with the Thunder not having to give up any picks) isn’t a more likely trade.”
Is Davis really the best Holmgren replacement option on the trade market? The 10-time All-Star has all the talent in the world and is arguably the most dangerous big man in the league when in a zone on both ends of the floor.

However, there’s no guarantee Davis would make it through a full season in Oklahoma City without suffering a game-changing injury, as there’s a running joke that the Kentucky product’s body is made of glass.
Davis, who was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Washington Wizards in February, was only active for 20 games this season, proving that he’s still struggling to change the narrative surrounding his availability.
While the Thunder should explore a Holmgren-centered trade this offseason, Davis shouldn’t be one of their highly sought-after targets.
