The New York Giants have signed veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., per the team’s web site.

Rumors have swirled around Beckham and the Giants for most of the last year. He was linked to the Giants after Malik Nabers tore his ACL back in Week 4 of 2025. He was again brought up as a potential signing as the Giants looked to veteran free agents to bolster their roster prior to the 2026 NFL Draft.

Beckham was one of the most feared, and exciting, players in the NFL when he was a Giant from 2014-2018. Over the first five years of his career, he etched his name into franchise history as one of the most productive receivers the team has ever had. Beckham still ranks fourth in franchise history in receptions (390), second in yards (5,476), and fourth in touchdowns (44).

Beckham worked out for the Giants earlier in the offseason and also participated in a second wide receiver workout Monday morning. In addition to the obvious links between Beckham and the Giants, Beckham also has a strong relationship with Giants’ head coach John Harbaugh.

The veteran receiver played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, playing in 14 games and starting six. He was a complementary piece for the Ravens’ offense, catching 35 passes for 565 yards (16.1 per catch) and 3 touchdowns.

The decision to reunite Beckham with Harbaugh and the Giants was a complicated one, largely coming down to what the superstar receiver has left in the tank.

“For Odell, this is the conversation that we had,” Harbaugh said. “We had just such an honest conversation. It’s got to be right for both parties. Odell wants to be the kind of player that can make a difference. I’m pretty sure that he can make a team in the National Football League right now, but can he make a difference? It’s something he wants to do. Is his body going to hold up in the way he wants it to, and all those things are questions that need to get answered for anybody at that age.”

Giants fans shouldn’t expect the electrifying playmaker they remember from Beckham’s youth. Age and multiple lower-body injuries have (likely) sapped much of the explosive athleticism that made Beckham feared in the first half of his career.

That said, the injuries probably haven’t diminished the route running acumen, ball skills, and football IQ that made him immediately successful and consistently respected. If Beckham has enough athleticism to make good on his skills, he has a real chance to make this reunion a happy one.

The Giants weren’t going to sign Beckham if they weren’t confident that he could not only make the team, but also be a valuable contributor for the offense. Both the Giants and Harbaugh have too much respect for Beckham to bring him in as a camp body, cut him, and likely end his career with a whimper.

That the Giants signed Beckham likely means they think he can be a difference maker.

The Giants also signed PR/KR Braxton Berrios on Monday, but needed a more pure receiver with receivers Malik Nabers (ACL/meniscus) and Darius Slayton (core muscle) recovering from surgery. Berrios has punt and kickoff return experience, and should compete to fill the role created when Gunner Olszewski tore his Achilles tendon.
