Diner seen putting hair in food before complaining to staff

A diner at a restaurant in northern England was caught on camera placing a hair into a dish in an apparent attempt to get a free meal, according to the business.

Dig deeper:

The Woolpack, a pub in Haslingden, shared surveillance footage showing a family dining at the restaurant.

The business said a member of the group later complained that she found a hair in a child’s macaroni and cheese.

What they’re saying:

“The hair in question was notably long, which raised some questions given that our chef is neither long-haired nor capable of producing such a specimen,” the restaurant said.

The restaurant said it provided the customers with a replacement order of macaroni and cheese, which they took with them.

The business also alleged that the group left with a bottle of ketchup, an ice cream bowl and a teaspoon.

“Running a small hospitality business is challenging enough without having to deal with false complaints, threats of social media campaigns, and missing tableware,” the restaurant wrote.

The Source: Storyful contributed to this report. This story was reported from Los Angeles.
