Broncos Wire‘s 91-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at fourth-year cornerback Reese Taylor, No. 35. (Note: The NFL lists Taylor as a second-year player because he only has two accrued seasons of at least six games, but Taylor is entering his fourth year in the league.)

Before the Broncos: Taylor (5-9, 188 pounds) was a beneficiary of the NCAA’s COVID-19 policy, playing five years (2018-23) of college football, spending time at Indiana (2018–2021) and Purdue (2022). Taylor played from 2018-21 with the Hoosiers for 40 games, making 74 total tackles (64 solo, nine assisted, eight tackles for loss), two sacks, two interceptions, 11 pass deflections and one forced fumble. After transferring to Purdue, Taylor saw action in 13 games, making 34 total tackles (27 solo, seven assisted, one tackle for loss), four pass deflections and one fumble recovery.

Although Taylor did not hear his name called in the 2023 NFL draft, he landed on his feet, signing as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in May 2023. He was initially signed to KC’s practice squad after roster cuts, but was cut one day later.

Broncos tenure: Denver signed Taylor to its practice squad in November of his rookie season. Taylor only played 13 snaps in his second season in 2024, primarily spending his time on the practice squad, appearing in only one game. In 2025, Taylor appeared in four games, making two tackles in that time. He spent the rest of the season on the Broncos‘ 17-man practice squad.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Long shot. Taylor is a practice squad warrior at this point. After two seasons on the Broncos‘ practice squad, Taylor has a strong hold of the system under special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi and head coach Sean Payton. He is likely a strong candidate for that same unit again in 2026. It will be hard to break into the active roster in Denver’s crowded secondary this summer.
