MARCELLUS, N.Y. — A 55-year-old woman was killed and a 55-year-old man was injured in a motorcycle crash Sunday morning in the town of Marcellus, according to New York State Police.
Troopers responded to the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Slate Hill Road around 10:10 a.m. on June 21 for a reported serious personal injury crash.
A preliminary investigation found that an 18-year-old driver from Chaumont was operating a 2024 Subaru northbound on Slate Hill Road and had stopped at the intersection with Route 20. Police said the driver then entered the intersection and failed to yield the right-of-way to an eastbound 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, causing a collision.
The motorcycle’s 55-year-old operator and his 55-year-old female passenger were both ejected from the motorcycle.
Both were transported to Upstate University Hospital. State Police said the female passenger was later pronounced dead. The male operator remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Subaru, identified by State Police as Morgan L. Heise, 18, of Chaumont, was not injured.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to assist with the investigation.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Marcellus Police Department, Marcellus Ambulance, and Marcellus Fire Department.
