Casey’s General Stores, the nation’s third-largest convenience store retailer, is planning a major expansion over the coming years, complete with hundreds of new stores, additional food offerings and operational improvements.
The Iowa-based chain has steadily expanded across the United States, adding more than 500 stores since its last strategic plan in 2023.
Under its new three-year strategic plan announced on Wednesday, Casey’s said it plans to expand by at least 400 stores through both acquiring new locations and developing new stores.
On a separate note, food and beverage remains a priority, with the company saying it will build on its position as one of the nation’s leading pizza chains, continue investing in made-to-order offerings and expand its private brand portfolio.
“Our food business is at the center of Casey’s three-year growth strategy and continues to be one of our strongest differentiators,” Tom Brennan, chief merchandising officer at Casey’s said in a news release. “Prepared foods and nonalcoholic beverages are driving strong inside sales, and we’re continuing to build on the loyalty we’ve earned through our more than 40 years in the pizza business with new offerings like wings and fries…”
Casey’s intends to make investments in data-driven tools and technology to help improve forecasting, strengthen the guest experience and support growth as the company expands.
Of its more than 2,900 convenience stores nationwide, Casey’s operates more than 20 locations in the Chicago area and northwest Indiana.
