The Chicago Bulls are kicking off their rebuilding project this offseason, and they’ve reportedly agreed to terms with a veteran shooting guard.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Bulls have reportedly agreed to a two-year, $45 million deal with Miami Heat guard Norman Powell as free agency kicks off.
Powell spent last season with the Heat after stints with the Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers. He started 52 games, averaging 21.7 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He also made his first career NBA All-Star Game, and he continued a strong run of player that saw him establish himself as a key rotation piece in Los Angeles and then in Miami.
In his NBA career, Powell has averaged 14 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
In another move, the Bulls reportedly agreed to a deal to retain center Zach Collins on a two-year, $17 million deal according to Charania.
Collins appeared in 10 games for the Bulls last season, averaging 9.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
NBA teams can negotiate contracts with players at this stage in free agency, but can’t officially sign those deals until next week.
