Memphis Grizzlies gets Cam Boozer, Karim Lopez in 2026 NBA Draft

The Memphis Grizzlies added two prospects and five future second-round picks in the 2026 NBA Draft.

  • The Memphis Grizzlies have traded former franchise star Ja Morant to the Portland Trail Blazers.
  • Memphis acquired Jerami Grant and Kris Murray from Portland in the trade, along with sending $1 million.

NBA free agency started on June 30 and the Memphis Grizzlies have an opportunity to energize the fan base by making significant moves to add more talent, especially after trading former face of the franchise, Ja Morant.

That trade cleared the way for the Grizzlies to fully rebuild around a new core that includes Zach Edey, Cedric Coward and 2026 NBA Draft No. 3 overall pick Cam Boozer.

Memphis is well over the NBA roster limit of 15, and it has 18 standard-contract players on its roster (after the Morant trade and once the Isaiah Stewart trade from Detroit goes through). That number doesn’t include second-round pick Richie Saunders. That means changes are guaranteed before the start of next season, and at least some of them are likely to come soon.

Any trades or deals can officially be consummated on July 6, when the league’s moratorium ends.

On July 1, the Memphis Grizzlies traded Santi Aldama to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for AJ Johnson, a protected 2030 first-round pick (originally from the Golden State Warriors) and two future second-round picks.

Johnson joins his fourth team in three years since being drafted in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft. Johnson played in 48 games for the Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks in 2025-2026 and averaged 9.4 minutes per game.

The Grizzlies continue to stockpile future picks, and Aldama gets a fresh start in Dallas.

Dallas acquires a versatile forward as Memphis continues to stack draft capital. The deal also allows the Grizzlies to preserve its full $29 million trade exception from the Jaren Jackson Jr. trade, which otherwise would have been reduced by their earlier offseason dealings. https://t.co/CcV4jfTf8N

The Memphis Grizzlies sent an additional $1 million in the Ja Morant trade to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray, Jake Fischer reported on X.

Morant is leaving Memphis after seven seasons.

It’s generated a wide range of reactions online.

The Grizzlies acquired former 2023 draft selection Kris Murray and 13-year NBA veteran Jerami Grant. Here’s what to know about who the Grizzlies got in return for Morant.

In seven seasons, Morant was named a two-time All-Star, NBA Rookie of the Year and earned All-NBA second-team honors in the 2021-22 season.
