WILMINGTON, N.C. – Eight members of the UNCW men’s and women’s track and field teams earned All-CAA honors following their podium finishes at the 2026 Coastal Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the conference announced.
“These All-CAA honorees for UNCW represent all the hard work, discipline, and time it goes into earning an achievement like this”, said Head Coach Jeff Klaves. “Today, we celebrate each of their achievements, honoring the work that they put in this year, and leaving what we call the standard of excellence that we continue to chase every season.”
Sophomore Jamisyn Aillet represented the Seahawks on the women’s side after earning third-team All-CAA honors with a third-place finish in the javelin. Aillet recorded a throw of 132 feet, 5 inches, which also ranks eighth in program history.
Freshman Sadie Buchanan earned All-CAA honors with a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a school-record time of 59.53 seconds to establish a new program record.
On the men’s side, Jesse Helton earned All-CAA recognition with a third-place finish in the discus after posting a throw of 172 feet, 2 inches. Earlier this season, Helton set the program record in the event at the VertKlasse Meeting.
Graduate student Ivan Poag collected his second consecutive All-CAA honor after earning runner-up finishes in the long jump and capturing the conference title in the triple jump. Poag recorded a leap of 24 feet, 3 inches in the long jump before winning the triple jump with a mark of 49 feet, 9 1/4 inches. Earlier this season, Poag recorded the second-best triple jump in program history at the Duke Invitational and moved into the Seahawks’ all-time top 10 in the long jump at the CAA Championships.
Poag was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer by the CAA at the championship and also qualified for the NCAA East First Round in the triple jump for the second consecutive season.
The men’s 4×400-meter relay team of Robbie Wade, Jace Wynn, Justin Bryant and Lucas Smith rounded out UNCW’s All-CAA selections after placing third with a time of 3:11.50.
Both Wynn and Smith continued to climb the program record book in the 400 meters during the championship meet. Wynn moved to No. 2 in program history and broke the freshman record, while Smith finished the season ranked third all-time.
