COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s golf head coach Jay Moseley has announced the hiring of assistant coach Trevor Johnson.
Johnson comes to Columbus after competing professionally on the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA TOUR Americas circuits following a standout collegiate career at Louisville. He brings a combination of high-level playing experience, player development expertise and recruiting potential to the program.
“I am thrilled to welcome Trevor Johnson to Ohio State,” Moseley said. “He has been a valuable asset in every role he’s had over the past decade and those he has worked with hold him in very high regard. His relational skills, golf IQ and passion for helping people are collectively as strong as any young coach I have ever been around. He’s going to help our program immensely in many ways and I can’t wait to get started with him.”
A native of Brentwood, Tenn., Johnson was a five-year letterwinner at Louisville from 2016-21. During his collegiate career, he appeared in 43 events and helped the Cardinals reach NCAA postseason play multiple times. As a senior in 2020-21, he recorded a pair of top 20 finishes, including a tie for 16th place at the NCAA Noblesville Regional. He also competed in the 2019 US Amateur at Pinehurst. Prior to that season, Johnson posted a career-best 71.05 scoring average in 2019-20 with four top 20 finishes and two top 10 performances.
Following his graduation from Louisville, Johnson turned professional and competed in opportunities on both the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA TOUR Americas, gaining valuable experience in professional golf. He also spent time as a caddy for numerous professional events. He most recently worked with College Golf Fellowship, which supports golfers with their faith both on and off the course. Johnson’s background at the collegiate, amateur and professional levels provides a unique perspective for the program.
“I am truly honored to be joining the Ohio State men’s golf program,” Johnson said. “I want to thank Coach Moseley and the entire athletic staff at OSU for this opportunity. I can’t wait to get to work with these talented players at one of the best facilities in the country to continue to build on the sustained success this program has had. I’m excited to be part of the Buckeye family!”
Johnson received a finance degree from Louisville in the spring of 2020 and then also earned a degree in Sports Administration from Louisville in 2021.
Ohio State returns the majority of its core in 2026-27 that has largely made up the Buckeye lineup over the past two seasons.
