TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Day one of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft didn’t disappoint, as three Seminoles were taken in the first four rounds, including Lincoln grad Myles Bailey, who was drafted 75th overall by the Chicago Cubs.
Wes Mendes (57th, Houston) and Brayden Dowd (88th, Arizona) joined Bailey as other Seminoles drafted on day one.
Bailey, a first baseman, started 26 games at first base before suffering a season ending injury that ended his sophomore campaign early. Over his two seasons in garnet and gold, Bailey had 32 career home runs, 95 hits, 89 RBI and scored 86 runs.
The Seminoles have seven first or second round picks since 2024, the most in a three-year stretch in program history. Eight players have been drafted in the first two rounds in head coach Link Jarrett’s four seasons in Tallahassee, also a four-year program best.
The 2026 MLB Draft wraps up Sunday with rounds 5-20.
