HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC) – The growth of Hispanic entrepreneurship in Alabama continues to create new opportunities and services for the community.

A new bilingual spa in Hoover is opening its doors with the goal of providing beauty and wellness services to clients while breaking down language barriers.

VIP SPA Hoover is located inside a bilingual business center where several entrepreneurs are working to bring professional services closer to both English and Spanish-speaking residents.

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, Alabama has more than 17,000 Hispanic-owned businesses, reflecting the continued growth of Latino entrepreneurship across the state.

Alan Trujillo, owner of VIP SPA Hoover, said the idea came after an existing salon in the building decided to move on, creating an opportunity to expand the services available to the community.

“We decided to take the space and create a more vast experience, try to make it a little bit higher quality and make it bilingual,” Trujillo said.

The spa offers a variety of services, including hairstyling, barbering, manicures, pedicures, nail services, eyelash applications, and scalp massages.

“We have a wide variety of services that people might want,” Trujillo said.

Beyond beauty services, Trujillo said the goal is to create an environment where clients feel comfortable regardless of the language they speak.

“They might either be only for English speakers, only for Spanish speakers, but we want to have that experience for both,” he said.

Trujillo added that the spa is designed to be a family-friendly space where people can feel welcome while receiving professional services.

For him, beauty is about more than appearance.

“I think everybody feels better when they look better,” Trujillo said.

The owners hope VIP SPA Hoover becomes another example of how Hispanic entrepreneurs are contributing to Alabama’s economy while creating services that meet the needs of a growing and diverse community.
