Layne’s Chicken Fingers CEO Garrett Reed told Community Impact the franchise held a soft opening for its new Cypress location on July 17 with a grand opening on July 18.

Located at a former Zaxby’s, Reed said the new Cypress location boasts an expansive dining area featuring a country-inspired design with rustic elements.
Creating over 30 jobs for Cypress area residents, franchise owner Masroor Fatany said the new location is located adjacent to Wendy’s within the HEB parking lot and across from Lifetime Fitness.
“We’ve had our eyes on this location since last year, and when this opportunity came up earlier this year, we were excited to see it through, and here we are opening this store, and you know we’re excited to be here in between Bridgeland and Town Lake, and amongst just the general cypress area,” Fatany said.
Reed said the fried chicken franchise has plans to open one Layne’s Chicken Fingers location a week for the remaining of the year. With its eyes set on Magnolia next, Reed said the franchise plans to open a total of 60-65 locations in the Houston area alone.

Layne’s Chicken Fingers was founded in College Station by Mike Layne in 1994 and has 50 locations with several opening soon, per the website.
Reed said he joined Layne’s Chicken Fingers as CEO in 2017 and immediately began looking for opportunities to expand the brand. As a growing company, Reed said Layne’s Chicken Fingers plans to collaborate with local schools and organizations to hold spirit nights and is open for community outreach opportunities.
Craving fried chicken?
Known for its crispy fried chicken meals, Reed said Layne’s Chicken Fingers contains marinated tenderloin chicken and is hand breaded to offer a crispy crunchy exterior that reflects traditional fried chicken.
“It’s like you get the best of both worlds. You’re eating a piece of fried chicken, like traditional crunchy, but you’re getting tenderloin meat in the middle of it,” Reed said.
The eatery also prides itself on its daily scratch made sauces from its honey mustard sauce and ranch to its jalapeño ranch, Layne sauce and gravy sauce.
