Former Denver Broncos backup quarterback Ben DiNucci is excited at the prospect of new playcaller Davis Webb leading the charge on offense going into 2026.
“I think first and foremost, you’re going to see more of an emphasis on these guys breaking the huddle quick and getting to the line of scrimmage,” DiNucci said during a recent interview with Kay Adams on FanDuel TV’s Up and Adams Show. “I think a lot of the heat that Sean Payton has taken over the last couple years with that Denver offense is just there’s a lot on your plate when you’re the head coach in a new organization, a lot of moving parts.
“Sean — a lot of the plays in his offense are just wordy, so you’ve got to have an emphasis on getting them in as soon as the last play’s done… Davis got in there, at least from what I’m hearing inside that building, a lot of the playcalls, the formations have kind of been tightened up, less wordy.”
DiNucci also revealed that there could be an added emphasis on no-huddle or up-tempo flow on offense, an area where Denver thrived in 2025. “I look at the influences in Davis Webb’s college career and his NFL career and can’t help but think that this is going to be a spread, up-tempo — let Bo (Nix) and these receivers — let it rip,” DiNucci said. “I’m excited to see what Davis is going to bring to this offense.”

Though Davis Webb now has the full confidence and rubber stamp of Payton, Webb made one thing abundantly clear: this is still Payton’s team. “This is a Sean Payton-coached football team,” Webb said after the second week of OTAs in June. “This is a Sean Payton offensive philosophy.”
Webb will have the chance to fully implement the offense with Nix and the rest of the team when training camp begins on July 31.
