Since May, it has been Audacy‘s top-rated radio station in the nation’s fifth-largest market, and in June 2026 enjoyed cume of 1,068,500 listeners, according to publicly available Nielsen Audio data — second only to dominant No. 1 “Sunny 99.1,” owned by iHeartMedia.

In the past, such ratings prowess would have been enviable. Today, it’s apparently not strong enough to bring in the revenue Audacy desires. As such, “The Spot” is about to get a good washing, and the result will be a simulcast with a Sports Talk AM with a fraction of the audience seen at KKHH-FM.

Beginning August 13, “95.7 The Spot” will discontinue its Adult Hits music format and begin simulcasting KILT-AM by rebranding as “95.7 The Fan,” building on the brand first used by WFAN in New York and later used in Minneapolis-St. Paul and other markets, the most recent addition being Los Angeles, where audience building is taking some time.

In June 2026, “SportsTalk 610” earned a 0.9 share of the total audience while seeing cume of 123,700.

The forthcoming change comes just one day after Audacy shared that “SportsTalk 610” on September 1 will join a group of Audacy sports stations in becoming available on the SiriusXM app and in vehicles with the latest generation SiriusXM with 360L radios.

And, it will see the end of a presentation featuring Grego in middays offering musical notes detailing the use of “Toy Soldiers” by Martika by Eminem a generation later, ahead of playing the Summer 1989 chart hit from the Kids Incorporated entertainer.

One big reason for the removal of “95.7 The Spot” is the confirmation that KKHH will serve as the flagship FM broadcast home for the NFL’s Houston Texans.

Audacy Chief Business Officer Chris Oliviero explains, “Houston boasts some of the most passionate sports fans in the country, and they deserve both the content and distribution that matches their energy. Between our incredibly entertaining and informative lineup of local hosts and our exclusive partnership with the Texans, we are the ultimate destination for Houston sports fans. Launching ‘95.7 The Fan’ as our 10th FM sports station in the top ten U.S. markets is a proud milestone and solidifies Audacy’s leadership in local sports audio. We can’t wait to bring this unbeatable coverage to even more fans so they can join the conversation and stay connected to the teams they love.”

An Audacy spokesperson was asked for comment as to why KKHH was designated for “The Fan” in Houston, which will become the 23rd FM sports station owned by the company. “This is defined to expand our Sports presence in Houston,” the spokesperson said.

The company’s other music stations are comprised of Hot Adult Contemporary KHMX “Mix 96.5,” Latin Pop KLOL-FM “Mega 101,” Country KILT-FM “100.3 The Bull,” and two HD multicast offerings airing Tejano and Country programming, respectively.

The lineup for “95.7 The Fan” is as follows:
6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. CT: “Payne and Pendergast”
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. CT: “In The Loop with John Lopez and Reggie Adetula”
2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. CT: “The Drive with Stoerner and Hughley”
Nightly after Texans All Access: “Area 45 with Bijani and Creighton”
