Former Charlotte Hornets forward Jalen McDaniels has signed a one-year deal with the Kobe Storks of Japan’s B.LEAGUE.
Another former NBA player is taking his talents to Japan for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
The Kobe Storks of Japan’s B.LEAGUE announced the signing of former Charlotte Hornets forward Jalen McDaniels to a one-year contract.
McDaniels brings siginificant NBA experience to Kobe
The 28-year-old brings significant NBA experience to Kobe, having appeared in 252 regular-season games across stints with the Hornets, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards. He holds career averages of 6.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
McDaniels was selected by Charlotte with the No. 52 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft after spending two seasons at San Diego State.
His most productive NBA campaign came in 2022-23, when he averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists across 80 appearances for Charlotte and Philadelphia. Before being traded to the 76ers, he was producing career highs of 10.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game for the Hornets.
After spending the 2023-24 season with Toronto, McDaniels joined the Capital City Go-Go in the NBA G League. He averaged 13.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 30 games during the 2024-25 campaign while shooting 37.8% from three-point range.
His performances earned him a 10-day contract with the Wizards, giving him another opportunity to return to the NBA before making the move to Japan.
