I can’t speak to this man’s priorities and interests.
I will say that I don’t like to use the word “weird” when discussing what turns people on. Even though this isn’t a sex advice column in any way, Love Letters inspires me to read about people’s wide range of desires.
To like feet is not so unusual. Especially pretty ones. It’s a big, magical world out there. One of my favorite books about this is “Tell Me What You Want,” by Kinsey Institute researcher Justin J. Lehmiller, who has been a friend to Love Letters. In the book, Justin explains the range of what people like, based on surveys. The results make it clear that tastes are all over the place.
When I read your letter, my first question for you was: do you feel connected to this man? Is this relationship – even in its early stages – more than “fun,” as you put it? Are you learning about each other’s emotions and interests beyond toes? That’s my focus at Love Letters – to make sure you enjoy your company. Your letter anticipates behavior you might not like in the future. But I can’t tell how much you really enjoy each other now.
Really, if the foot stuff annoys you, this probably isn’t a match. You say you like the kisses, but … you also imply you hope the foot stuff “cools off.” If you spend many minutes of physical intimacy thinking, “I wish this person would look at my face … or anything else,” you can chalk it up to incompatibility.
Instead of trying to diagnose an issue, ask yourself if you feel well-suited. The answer might be a quick no, and then you don’t have to worry about this at all.

Readers? Is being liked for your feet any different than being liked for a beautiful face? Does the discomfort suggest this isn’t a match?
