PHILADELPHIA – The Vanderbilt men’s golf team will be well represented at the 126th U.S. Amateur Championship, as a total of five Commodores are set to compete in the oldest golf amateur tournament in the United States beginning Monday.
The 126th U.S. Amateur Championship will be held from Aug. 10-16 in the Philadelphia area, as the Merion Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, serve as the host sites.
Senior Carlos Astiazaran, junior Ryan Downes, sophomore Michael Riebe and freshmen Luke Colton and Tyler Mawhinney will play in the leading annual golf tournament in the United States for amateur golfers. This year marks the fourth-straight appearance at the U.S. Amateur Championship for Colton, while it is the third-consecutive appearance for Downes, Mawhinney and Riebe. It will be the second-straight U.S. Amateur Championship for Astiazaran.
The 126th U.S. Amateur features 312 golfers competing over seven days. The tournament consists of two days of stroke play, with the leading 64 competitors moving on to match play to decide the champion. All knockout matches are over 18 holes except for the final, which consists of 36 holes, separated into morning and afternoon 18-hole rounds.

NBC and Peacock will provide live coverage of the 126th U.S. Amateur. Peacock will stream live coverage Wednesday through Sunday from 2-5 p.m. CT. NBC Sports Network airs live from the U.S. Amateur Wednesday through Friday from 2-5 p.m. CT.
The semifinal matches take place on Saturday with the finals being held on Sunday. NBC will air live from 3-5 p.m. CT, with NBC Sports Network starting the action from 2-3 p.m. CT.
