BRYANT, Ark. (KATV) — A local business is helping families prepare for the new school year while continuing its effort to fight food insecurity across Saline County.
Justin Janney with The Local Tavern is offering free school supplies to anyone in the community, regardless of their financial situation. Families do not have to make a purchase to receive the supplies.
“Watching moms come in and dads come in and just taking a breath, that means something to me because that money gets to go towards gas in the car or food on the table instead of buying school supplies,” Janney said.
Janney’s efforts to give back extend beyond back-to-school season. About eight months ago, he created the Feed Saline initiative with a goal of providing 40,000 meals by the end of the year.
So far, the initiative has provided about 11,000 meals.
