GS Global said Monday it has opened an office in Houston to expand its presence in the US energy and infrastructure markets.

Located in Houston’s Uptown district, the office will target growing demand for project-based steel generated by increased investment in energy, power and infrastructure.

GS Global previously managed most of its US business through its Los Angeles office. The company said the new base would help it respond more quickly to shifting market conditions, including stronger protectionism and global supply chain restructuring.

The Houston office will seek and support steel orders for major projects while expanding the company’s role in the US energy value chain. It will also explore opportunities in chemicals, energy and shipbuilding equipment.

GS Global plans to work with Korean steelmakers operating in the Houston area, including Hyundai Steel and Dongkuk Steel, while cultivating local engineering, procurement and construction companies and steel fabricators as customers.

During the second half, the company will focus on building a local network and strengthening its project pipeline. From 2027, it plans to expand order support and pursue new businesses, positioning Houston as a key development hub for the southern US.

“The Houston office is a strategic investment aimed at expanding our customer base and strengthening our sales competitiveness in the US,” a GS Global official said.

“We will pursue opportunities beyond project-based steel to establish a sustainable foundation for growth in North America.”
