Beckham hasn’t played an official NFL game since Week 14 of the 2024 season as a member of the Miami Dolphins. He was suspended six games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy in 2025, but never joined a team. Whether he’s active for the Giants’ Sunday Night Football season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13 will be the next intriguing chapter in Beckham’s comeback story.
From 2014-18, Beckham was a three-time Pro Bowler with the Giants and emerged as one of the game’s largest stars. He was traded to the Cleveland Browns ahead of the 2019 campaign. Waived by Cleveland amid the 2021 season, Beckham was claimed by the Los Angeles Rams. Although he helped L.A. to a Super Bowl LVI victory, OBJ tore his ACL during the game at SoFi Stadium in February 2022.
Beckham missed the 2022 season while rehabbing his injury despite generating plenty of attention about potentially signing with a team. Eventually, he joined the Baltimore Ravens for the 2023 season, catching 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns in 14 regular-season games and adding four grabs for 34 yards over two postseason contests. He played just nine games in 2024 for Miami, with only nine receptions to show for it.
When Beckham re-signed with the Giants this offseason, it was a reunion with the franchise and fanbase he had dazzled for in the decade prior, but it very much came to fruition because of Harbaugh, the head coach with whom OBJ had developed a good relationship during their year together on the Ravens. Beckham tabbed the return as a “surreal” experience, and one that was fulfilling his expectations. It even included a one-handed catch at practice — a glowing reminder of his most memorable play during his Giants glory years.
Beckham remains in the winter of his career, but he’s giving it another go in NYC — and, ever the showman, OBJ’s penning quite a tale. Over a career that’s encompassed 119 games, Beckham has recorded 575 receptions for 7,987 yards and 59 receiving touchdowns, with the majority of that production coming for New York (390 catches for 5,476 yards and 44 scores). After Sunday, odds are he’ll be adding to those numbers.
