The Cubs absolutely dominated in the opener 17-3, but the Brewers have bounced back with back-to-back 9-4 and 9-5 wins to take a 2-1 series lead. Milwaukee leads this season series overall, 6-3. They also lead the Cubs by nine games in the NL Central and have the league’s best record. Milwaukee is now 87-53 with a 40-28 road record and is trying to hand Chicago its third straight loss tonight. The Cubs are also trying to avoid losing four of their last five games on Thursday. Chicago is now 78-62 with a 40-31 mark at home. The Cubs are still in good shape for the playoffs, given that they hold an NL Wild Card spot. But Chicago has fallen behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the top spot in the National League. These two will play again soon, next week in Milwaukee, to wrap up this season series. The Brewers are the slight -112 favorites to win this four-game series tonight. That has a lot to do with the Brewers starting Logan Henderson. The righty is 9-2 with a 2.48 ERA in 76.1 innings. The Cubs will counter with Kevin Gausman, who is 8-11 with a 4.52 ERA in 155.1 innings.
