Louisiana judge rules against NCAA in eligibility case

BATON ROUGE, La. —

A Louisiana judge has ruled against the NCAA in an eligibility case, allowing LSU to add former NFL players to its roster.

Dae’Quan Wright, who was released by the Cleveland Browns last week, explained his decision to return to college football.

“Really just being with the coaches that brought me to Ole Miss. I’m familiar with the system. They’ve been real good to me. Great guys, great group of guys. You know, really just that for real,” Wright said.

Within the last 30 minutes, the SEC issued a response to the ruling, stating its disagreement with the outcome and emphasizing its authority to set rules for competition among its member universities.

“The SEC will continue to defend this standard, the principle of fair competition, and the conference’s authority to govern competition among its member universities,” the statement read in part.
