The annual KTAR News 92.3 FM and Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Give-A-Thon benefiting Phoenix Children’s, presented by Valley Hyundai Dealers and Yrefy, raised nearly $2.5 million to support pediatric care for children and families across Arizona and beyond.
Held Aug. 17-21, the weeklong radiothon brought together listeners, businesses, community partners and supporters from across the state to support Phoenix Children’s and the patients and families it serves. More than 2,000 gifts were processed during the campaign, including 1,332 supporters who became Champions of Hope. The Give-A-Thon is the largest children’s hospital radiothon in the country, according to a press release.
“The incredible generosity of our community and the audiences of KTAR News and Arizona Sports answered the call once again to support Phoenix Children’s, the best children’s hospital system in the country,” said Ryan Hatch, senior vice president and market manager for Bonneville Phoenix. “It would not be possible without the big hearts and tremendous efforts of our sponsors, volunteers, partners and employees.”
All proceeds from the Give-A-Thon benefit the Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund, which allows the health system to direct resources where they are needed most. The funds help support research, invest in technology, recruit physicians and sustain programs and services for patients and families.
“The success of this year’s Give-A-Thon is a powerful reflection of how deeply our community believes in the mission of Phoenix Children’s,” Mr. Harrison said. “We are incredibly grateful to KTAR News, Arizona Sports, Valley Hyundai Dealers, Yrefy and every sponsor, donor and supporter who made this possible. Their generosity helps us continue investing in exceptional care, innovative treatments and vital programs that make a meaningful difference for children and families throughout Arizona.”
Throughout Give-A-Thon week, listeners heard Stories of Hope directly from Phoenix Children’s patients and families, offering a firsthand look at how donor support affects children both inside and beyond the hospital.
Listeners were also encouraged to become Champions of Hope by making a recurring gift of at least $20 per month or a one-time donation of $240 or more. For every new Champion of Hope, a Phoenix Children’s patient receives a teddy bear in the donor’s honor.
This year, 1,332 donors answered that call, helping extend the impact of the Give-A-Thon beyond the weeklong campaign.
