The Texans honored their late co-founder Janice McNair with an “emotional four-minute ceremony” before Sunday’s season opener against the Bills at Reliant Stadium. McNair died at 89 years old in July. The team aired a one-minute video that “played during the tribute,” and after the video, singer Nancy Curtis performed, “Amazing Grace” followed by a moment of silence (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 9/13).
The Titans postponed former NFLer Chris Johnson’s induction into the franchise Ring of Honor that was previously scheduled for Sunday “due to ‘unforeseen circumstances.’” The team said in a statement that Johnson and his family are “no longer able to travel to Nashville.” It noted the event will be postponed and the team looks “forward to celebrating the moment with them at a future date” (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 9/11).
