From neighborhood bakeries and family-owned restaurants to cultural festivals and community celebrations, Hispanic Heritage Month is a chance to explore the people, flavors and traditions that help shape our region.

Running from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities across the United States.

Across Puget Sound, Hispanic and Latino communities have helped build vibrant neighborhoods, businesses and cultural traditions that make the region a richer place to live, work and explore. 

Seattle

Grab Venezuelan comfort food at Paparepas, enjoy coffee and pastries at Café Calaveras, browse plants and home décor at Forgot Me Not Plants and Decor or stop by Besito for a thoughtfully curated shopping experience. You can also visit Bajón en Seattle, Los Costeños and Mi Patria.

Bellevue and Redmond

On the Eastside, try tacos from LA Chingona Taqueria, enjoy a meal at Cielo Cocina Mexicana or satisfy your sweet tooth at Cafecito Mexican Bakery. Looking for ingredients to bring home? Visit La Quemada or stop by Amor Eterno Mexican Food.

South King County

Explore community favorites like Antojitos Michalisco and Mazatlan Restaurant in Auburn, Agave Cocina & Cantina and Mi Familia Tienda Mexicana in Kent, or Los Bigotes de Villa and Picanteria el Civichito in Federal Way.

Pierce County

Head south for authentic flavors at Birrieria y Mariscos La Cocina in Lakewood, Aceituno’s Mexican Food in Puyallup or Taquería la Michoacana in Tacoma. While you’re there, browse specialty markets like El Mercado Latino, Tienda La Victoria and La Huerta 2 International Market.

Snohomish County

Make a stop at Casa Oaxaca Mexican Bar and Restaurant in Lynnwood, stock up on treats at Dulceria El Chavito or enjoy a meal at Abuelo’s Market and Taqueria in Bothell. Other local favorites include Julio’s Restaurant and Sabor Latino.

Fiestas Patrias Parade

Seattle Center
Sept. 19, 10 a.m.–noon

One of the largest celebrations of Mexican Independence Day in the Pacific Northwest, the annual parade brings colorful floats, music, dance and community pride to Seattle Center.

Sea Mar Fiestas Patrias

Seattle Center
Sept. 19–20, noon–9 p.m.

Spend the weekend enjoying live entertainment, cultural performances, food vendors and family-friendly activities celebrating Latino cultures from across the Americas.

¡Vamos al Acuario!

Seattle Aquarium
Sept. 15–Oct. 15

The Seattle Aquarium’s monthlong celebration features special programming, activities and opportunities to learn about Hispanic and Latino connections to marine conservation and coastal communities.

La Quemada: Noche de Cultura

Waterfront Park, Seattle
Sept. 17, 6–8 p.m.

Hosted in partnership with La Quemada, this evening celebration features music, culture and community along Seattle’s waterfront.

Washington State Fiestas Patrias

Washington State Fairgrounds, Puyallup
Sept. 20, 1–6 p.m.

Enjoy traditional performances, music, food and festivities as part of the Washington State Fair’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.

Fiesta de la Familia

Lakewood
Sept. 26, noon–6 p.m.

This family-friendly event brings together music, dancing, food and activities that celebrate the diversity of Latino cultures.
