LOUISIANA (KNOE) – Gov. Jeff Landry announced the rollout of a modern Driver Services platform for the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles on Tuesday, replacing five decades of legacy computer infrastructure across the agency.
According to officials, the state partnered with CHAMP Titles, Inc. to launch the new framework, which manages driver’s licenses, state identification cards, credential renewals, and future digital government initiatives.
Administration officials also said that the digital overhaul aims to reduce processing backlogs, curb frequent system crashes, and cut long wait lines for residents while saving taxpayers $30 million.
“We promised Louisianans shorter lines and an easier experience at the OMV, and today we’re delivering on that promise,” Landry said in a statement. “CHAMP gives folks a faster, simpler way to get the services they need, while cutting costs and inefficiencies that have plagued this system for over 50 years. This is what a modern, 21st-century government should look like.”
The launch reflects collaboration among the governor’s administration, the Louisiana OMV, the Louisiana Office of Technology Services (OTS), and municipal stakeholders statewide.
State leaders confirmed that CHAMP and Louisiana officials will continue expanding the platform, targeting full implementation of an integrated Vehicle Services system in 2027 to unify driver and motor vehicle records under a single digital network.
