March Madness won’t be exclusive to basketball in Hartford next spring.
The NCAA men’s ice hockey tournament is coming to PeoplesBank Arena for the first time, after the NCAA men’s hockey oversight committee elected to move the regional from Bridgeport. The NCAA announced the move in a press release Tuesday.
The regional will take place from March 25-28, 2027.
It was originally slated to take place at Bridgeport’s Total Mortgage Arena, but the NCAA said renovations to the site have made its ability to host “unfeasible.” The NCAA worked with the local host Sacred Heart and arena management to move the games to Hartford.
The NCAA Tournament field will be chosen on March 21. Other regional sites include, Fargo, N.D., Loveland, Colo. and Springfield, Mass.
The 2027 Men’s Frozen Four will be held at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., April 8-10.
