Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport ranked in the top 10 for large airports in a customer satisfaction survey released this month by data analytics company JD Power.
The Kenner airport placed seventh in the category of large airports in JD Power’s 21st annual North American Airport Satisfaction Study. The airport scored a satisfaction index ranking of 682 out of 1,000, tying with Salt Lake City International Airport in Utah and just one point below Nashville International Airport.
The index ranking is based on seven core dimensions of the customer experience: the ease of moving through the airport, trust in the airport, terminal facilities, staff, food and retail, departure experience and arrival experience.
JD Power gave scores for medium, large and mega airports. A large airport is defined as having 10 to 32.9 million passengers per year.
The ranking was based on over 24,000 completed surveys from passengers who travelled to at least one U.S. or Canadian airport in the prior 30 days. The study was fielded from July 2025 through July 2026.
The top large airport was Tampa International Airport with 715 points. All three categories of airports saw a double-digit rise in their satisfaction index with large airports jumping by around 13 points overall.
JD Power credited the rise in rankings to completed capital projects at airports even as they dealt with high passenger volumes. Clear signs and a balance of local features with recognized brands were also found to have helped airports.
At MSY, airport officials unveiled a massive growth plan for the next 20 years that would add more gates, a new parking garage and a new terminal.
