It does not look like ‘The Eagle’ has lost a step.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s mixed martial arts career came to an end six years ago, as the legendary former UFC lightweight champion left the game on top.
The Dagestani made three successful defenses of the 155-pound title. After getting the better of Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier, Nurmagomedov retired after submitting Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.
Many in the all-time great’s team have insisted he can still hang with the very best behind the scenes, and a recent clip has demonstrated exactly that to fans.

Khabib Nurmagomedov controls undefeated PFL prospect Amru Magomedov in new grappling footage
While he hasn’t competed in any form since 2020, Nurmagomedov has stayed physically fit during his ongoing stint as a coach for the next generation of Dagestani fighters.
In addition to training childhood friend Islam Makhachev and his cousins, Usman and Umar Nurmagomedov, ‘The Eagle’ has been coaching top prospects like Amru Magomedov.
The undefeated lightweight star is among the hottest up-and-comers in MMA, having built plenty of hype during his run to an 11-0 pro record so far.
Khabib’s protege was described as “terrifying” by some on social media after his latest win under the PFL banner in August.
But one man who is not afraid to go toe-to-toe with Magomedov is the retired former UFC champion.
Recent footage uploaded on Instagram by Usman Nurmagomedov showed Khabib dominantly controlling Magomedov from top position during a grappling exchange.
“Yesterday we made him angry,” the caption read.
Despite maintaining his fitness and abilities, Nurmagomedov has continued to shut down comeback talk.
In addition to Dana White attempting to draw ‘The Eagle’ back to the UFC, believing that he retired prematurely, the Russian legend has also turned down competitive grappling matches.
