A new business park near San Antonio is being built to serve Hill Country trades and to fund the fight against human trafficking for years to come.

BOERNE, TX, UNITED STATES, October 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Most business parks are measured in square feet. Freedom Place hopes to be measured in lives set free as well. Freedom Place Business Park, which fronts Interstate 10 in Boerne, will house tradesmen, small companies, and showroom businesses across seven buildings and 82,000 square feet. A significant share of the company’s profits is committed to organizations working to end human trafficking, a cause that became personal for developer Ben Briggs long before the first permit was filed.

Before it can fund anything, though, Freedom Place has to work as a business park. With Kendall County’s population up more than 20% since 2020, the area’s businesses are multiplying. Valcor Commercial leasing broker Jared Davis remarked, “Warehouse space with small offices continues to be in demand due to decades of strong growth in Boerne and the surrounding Hill Country.” Loading docks may not be all that exciting, but the businesses that use them keep a growing region running. Each unit pairs a front office or showroom with shop and warehouse space, built for the electrician whose inventory has quietly taken over the family garage or the entrepreneur who needs room to work but not a full-size warehouse.

The reason those buildings carry the name Freedom goes back to Asia. While living there, Briggs and his wife, Jenny, helped start a ministry serving women in their city’s red-light district. Many had been deceived, coerced or forced into the trade, and shame had convinced most of them they could never leave.

Jenny and her team brought gifts into the brothels and hosted gatherings at every major holiday. Some of the women said those were the first gifts they had ever received. Over time, friendships took root, and several women found the courage to walk away and build safe, dignified livelihoods.

Walking away was only the first step. Each woman who left needed a way to earn a living, and the organizations helping survivors make that leap depend on funding that can dry up from year to year. Briggs witnessed the devastation firsthand in Asia and lamented, “I learned that human trafficking generates $236 billion a year worldwide. It broke my heart that more than 300,000 people are estimated to be victims in Texas alone.”

Briggs saw that a problem financed like a business would need to be fought with money that keeps coming, and a well-run business park earns income for decades. Briggs aims to donate the bulk of his profits to charities fighting human trafficking. His family has been in real estate for three generations and the Freedom Place team has set a long-term goal of giving $50 million to the cause through future projects.

Construction is expected to finish around the end of 2027. As the electricians, cabinetmakers and entrepreneurs who move in grow their businesses, so does the share of Freedom Place’s profits that helps people walk out of buildings designed to keep them in.
