Real Madrid hit four against Leipzig to stay perfect in Champions League

Real Madrid maintained their perfect Champions League start with a 4-1 win over RB Leipzig at the Bernabeu.

Bernardo Silva scored his first goal for the club shortly before half-time, following up after Arda Guler‘s effort was deflected into the path of the midfielder.

Guler then doubled Madrid’s lead seven minutes after the restart, turning in Kylian Mbappe‘s header from close range.

Leipzig had created several chances in the first half, with Thibaut Courtois making important saves to deny Christopher Nkunku and Romulo Cardoso.

Mbappe added a third in the 83rd minute with a curling finish from the edge of the area, taking his tally to 12 goals in 12 games this season.

Tidiam Gomis pulled one back for Leipzig two minutes later, but Real restored their three-goal advantage when former Leipzig player Yan Diomande scored a superb volley from outside the box.

The result extended Real’s winning run to four matches in all competitions and their unbeaten home record to seven games this season.

Leipzig, meanwhile, have now gone eight Champions League away matches without a win.
