SEATTLE – No. 7 Washington hosts No. 11 Maryland for the regular season home finale on Friday night at Husky Soccer Stadium. The contest will be a rematch of the 2025 NCAA Tournament quarterfinal with postseason implications on the line on Montlake.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. with the match broadcast on Big Ten Network and live stats at HuskyStats.com.

2025 NCAA QUARTERFINAL REMATCH

Washington hosts No. 11 Maryland for the final home match of the regular season on Friday evening at Husky Soccer Stadium. It’s a rematch of the 2025 NCAA Tournament quarterfinal match where the Huskies defeated the Terrapins 3-1 in College Park, Md.

Last season, Maryland earned a 1-0 victory over the Huskies in regular season play before their postseason matchup.

BIG TEN TOURNAMENT IMPLICATIONS

The Huskies are tied with Indiana and Michigan State atop the Big Ten table. All three teams own a 5-1-2 record in Big Ten play with 17 points apiece, guaranteeing each team a spot in the Big Ten tournament.

With a win over Maryland and losses for both Indiana and Michigan State on Friday, Washington would claim at least a share of the Big Ten regular season championship and a first or second seed in the Big Ten Tournament.

Michigan State and Rutgers kick off on Friday at 4 p.m. PT while Indiana and UCLA face off at 7 p.m. PT.

HUSKIES TAKE 1-0 VICTORY OVER MICHIGAN

No. 7 Washington earned a big three points in conference play, taking down Michigan 1-0 on Monday evening. The Huskies improve to 9-3-3 and 5-1-2 in Big Ten play.

Washington is now tied atop the conference standings with both Michigan State and Indiana with two games to play. All three teams sit with 17 points and 5-1-2 records in conference games.

The Huskies were once again the aggressor, tallying 16 shots, including 11 in the opening period to just three from Michigan.

Washington’s constant pressure paid off in the final minute of the first half when Jake Goetting went on a stellar run and finished the play of with an even better finish. The first year launched a curling shot from just inside the corner of the 18-yard box, scoring his second goal of the year and the game winner.

Asher Hestad earned the assist on the play.

The Huskies didn’t stop in the second half. Washington levied five more shots on the Wolverines’ net. Michigan had its chances, but the Husky defense, anchored by Stockton Short, had an answer for every opportunity.

Short finished the day with five saves, including multiple critical diving saves to keep the Wolverines off the scoresheet.

It’s Short’s third solo shutout this season and the fifth shutout for the Huskies this season.

Short, along with Egor Akulov, Asher Hestad, Zach Ramsey, Kevin Hernandez, Zack Meier, Shaun Brun, and Connor Lofy played the full 90 minutes in the match.

Chad Sovde made his third start of the season, playing 30 minutes in the match. Cameron Cruz, Carter Gay, and Gabe Fernandez each featured as substitutes as well.

Washington returns to action on Friday night as the Huskies host Maryland for senior night and the final regular season home match at Husky Soccer Stadium.

BIG TEN FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Washington added another weekly award on Tuesday as first year Jake Goetting was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. It’s Washington’s second Freshman of the Week award and the team’s sixth weekly award overall.

Goetting was instrumental in Washington’s four point weekend in Michigan. The first year forward scored the lone goal in Washington’s win over the Wolverines on Monday, securing the shutout victory.

Goetting recorded three shots in his 47 minutes of action, including two on target. It was the Berkeley native’s second goal of the season and his first match winner.

Goetting has burst onto the scene for the Huskies. He’s featured in 11 games and logged 342 minutes, scoring two goals on 15 shots, seven of which have been on target.

THE RANKINGS CLIMB CONTINUES

Washington entered the rankings again in week six after a four week hiatus. Four weeks ago, the Huskies jumped from an unranked squad to 15th in the United Soccer Coaches poll. Two weeks ago, they climbed to No. 13 before reaching No. 7 last week. The Dawgs remain at No. 7 this week.

The Huskies have faced eight ranked opponents this season and will face a ninth in No. 11 Maryland on Friday evening. Washington has earned results in five of those matches with victories over No. 3 Portland, No. 3 Ohio State, and No. 22 Rutgers. Washington has earned draws against No. 6 Michigan State and No. 19 Wisconsin.

All three of Washington’s losses this season have come against ranked opponents (No. 18 San Diego, No. 25 Oregon State, No. 2 Indiana).

TOP DRAWER SOCCER TOP-100 PLAYERS

Three Huskies were tabbed top-100 midseason players by Top Drawer Soccer on Thursday. Zach Ramsey paces the group and the nation as TDS’s No. 1 ranked player. It’s no surprise he leads the group as he is the nation’s leader in goals, goals per game, points, points per game, and shots on goal.

Harrison Bertos checked in at No. 12 and Alex Hall came in at No. 18, making it three Huskies inside the top-20.

MAC HERMANN TROPHY MIDSEASON WATCHLIST

Zach Ramsey and Harrison Bertos have been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Midseason Watchlist the United Soccer Coaches announced. The pair of star players for the Huskies are two of 30 players named to the prestigious award’s watchlist.

Zach Ramsey has been arguably the best player in college soccer this season. He leads the nation in total goals (17), goals per game (1.21), total points (39), points per game (2.79), shots on goal per game (2.79), and penalty kicks (1.00). His 17 goals are the third-most in a season by a Husky, even with three games to play in the regular season.

After his iconic match winner in the national championship a season ago, Harrison Bertos has again shown his dominance on the pitch. He’s helped Washington to four shutouts this year while also chipping in three goals, two of which have been match winners.

GOALS GALORE

Washington has been one of the highest scoring teams in the NCAA this season. The Huskies have bagged 37 goals, the eighth-most in the nation at a 2.47 clip, the 10th-best in the NCAA.

In six of Washington’s nine victories, the Huskies have scored four goals.

Zach Ramsey leads the nation in total goals (17), goals per game (1.21), total points (39), points per game (2.79), shots on goal per game (2.79), and sits fourth in shots per game (4.21), and fifth in shot accuracy (.661). His 17 goals tie him with David Berto (1989) for the third-most goals in a season in program history. It’s been 39 years since a Husky has scored more goals than Zach Ramsey, as the two players ahead of him in the record book are record holder Craig Beeson (1987 – 19), and No. 2 on the list, Ken Garrett (1973 -18).

PICKING UP STEAM

Washington is displaying a dominant offense week in and week out. The Huskies sit in the top-30 in several key metrics, including first in corner kicks per game (8.00), penalty kicks (1.00), shots on goal per game (8.47), seventh in shots per game (17.13), eighth in total goals (37), 10th in scoring offense (2.47), 12th in goal differential (20), 14th in shot accuracy (.494), 14th in total points (107), 15th in points per game (7.13), 23rd in total assists (33), 23rd in assists per game (2.20), and 30th in winning percentage (.700).

After suffering two defeats in August and one in September, the Huskies are undefeated in October with a 3-0-2 record with both draws coming against ranked squads.

TRANSFER POWER

Transfer players Stockton Short and Wyatt Lewis have made immediate impacts on Montlake, as both players have featured heavily this season.

Short, coming from Utah Tech, was selected by the Seattle Sounders in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft, but opted to come to Washington for his fifth year of college soccer. He’s helped the Huskies to five shutouts this season, including his third solo shutout, coming against Michigan. Against Rutgers, Short made a season-high six saves to help preserve the 4-1 victory.

Lewis, from Notre Dame, has been a constant force in the midfield. He’s played in 14 games, starting in 13. He recorded his first goal as a Husky against Seattle U, opening the scoring just 62 seconds into the match. He has one assist as well but has had a far greater impact than the numbers show. He’s played more than 80 minutes in 10 games and has the third-most minutes played on the team.

SOPHOMORE STRENGTH

Jamie Clark has relied heavily on his second-year players this season. Zack Meier has been the go-to option at right back, starting all but one match, logging 1124 minutes, the fourth-most on the team.

Osato Enabulele has been showing off his versatility, playing both in the midfield and as a striker for Washington. The Texas native has played in 13 matches with 10 starts and has four goals to his name.

Kevin Hernandez has also become a regular for the Huskies. He’s played in 14 matches with five starts and 708 total minutes of action. Like Enabulele, he’s been used all around the pitch, even at defender. Hernandez has assisted three goals and has 12 shots, four of which have been on target.

HUSKY DEBUTS

11 Huskies have seen the field for the first time so far this season.

Emmett Layman, Callum Lugton, Nate Chandler, Ibrahim Rashad, Harper Mikolasy,  Shaun Brun, and Kenny Pierpoint each made their Washington debuts against Gonzaga. Stockton Short, Wyatt Lewis, and Jake Goetting each got their first minutes against San Diego. Noah Newman made his Washington debut against Northwestern, playing the second half where he made two saves without conceding a goal.

ROAD DAWGS

Washington is the only team in NCAA history to win the title after six consecutive tournament games away from home. The Huskies defeated Oregon State, SMU, Stanford, and Maryland all at their opponents’ home fields before winning two neutral site matches in the College Cup. The Huskies became just the second team ever to advance to the College Cup after four road victories in the NCAA Tournament in 2025. UMBC was the first to achieve the feat in 2014, ultimately falling in the semifinal round to Virginia.

HOMEGROWN TALENT

Washington’s roster features 20 of 29 players who hail from the state of Washington. Four players claim Seattle as their hometown (Asher Hestad, Noah Newman, Cameron Cruz, and Jaeger Felton), two are from Redmond (Egor Akulov and Zach Ramsey) and two others call Kirkland home (Zack Meier and Connor Lofy).

Of Washington’s nine out of state players, four hail from California (Nate Chandler, Jake Goetting, Nick O’Brien, and Ibrahim Rashad), and one each from Oregon (Callum Lugton), Massachusetts (Harrison Bertos), Utah (Stockton Short), Texas (Osato Enabulele), and Missouri (Wyatt Lewis).

Against Michigan, every field player starter in the match hailed from the state of Washignton. Only Stockton Short (Pleasant View, Utah) had an out of state home town.

POSTSEASON REGULARS

Washington has become a common name in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament. In the last 15 years, the Huskies have reached the tournament 12 times. Washington is also one of three teams to reach the College Cup twice in the last five years (Notre Dame & Clemson).

Only Washington and Clemson have reached the championship game twice in the last five years.

CREAM OF THE CROP

In 15 seasons on Montlake, Jamie Clark has orchestrated the meteoric rise of Washington men’s soccer, distinguishing the team as one of the nation’s top college soccer programs. Clark has led the Huskies to a record of 199-75-44, three Pac-12 titles, 12 trips to the NCAA Tournament and a national championship in 2025. Of those postseason appearances, Clark’s Huskies have made five trips to the NCAA Quarterfinals, including three straight NCAA Quarterfinals appearances from 2019-21 and two College Cup runs in 2021 and 2025.

Clark currently ranks eighth in winning percentage among active head coaches with a .696 percentage and is in his 19th season.
